high expectation on today’s children

Nee’s exam results are out.  She did good in most of the classes.  She got 94 in Malay, which I think the exam is very difficult.  I am a bit disappointed on her math, I thought that she is going to get high 90′s, but she got 88.  Overall, I am impressed.  I was chatting with her class mates’ parents, some of them complained that their children did not do well.  When asked, one of them is 94, another one is 96.  They have really high expectations on their children.  I stopped telling them how much I am so proud of Nee as soon as I learn their results.  This is called “peer pressure”.

I am worried about my boy when he enters standard 1 next year.  Unlike his sister, he does not like talking.   His learning skill is a bit behind compared to Nee.  He did really good in drawing and he is learning piano too.  I think he enjoys it.  He plays at his own without being asked to.  He also love stories.  My father in law said he will be fine.  My father in law was a teacher, I trust him. My boy loves him very much, he tells lots of stories.

88 average is a good result for me. Sometimes they just need a little bit of push.
